Background

Why this Project

Working in various underfunded archeological projects and having talked to many archeologists about the problems posed by data management, it has become apparent that there is no currently available toolchain for this that has sufficient flexibility, security and integrity and that can fit within non-existent budgets and be used in remote sites.

The idea of this project was to combine a number of existing technologies in innovative ways to create a solution to this problem, these being mainly:

• The use of Docker to allow flexible and easy relocated instatiation of the platform,

• The use of git to synchronise data,

• Providing a comprehensive set of data management and publishing tools
